Ruby’s Berry First Birthday!

Our sweet Ruby Dooby is officially one! I can’t believe it. That was seriously the fastest year (kinda) ever — at least the last half of it was. 😅

We kept the birthday plans sweet and small this time around. Honestly, easy and intimate gatherings are really my jam lately, especially with how busy life can get.

Ruby’s actual birthday, February 10, was simple and cute. She spent her day at school, so she was lovingly celebrated there with her teachers and buddies…

And then at home, we enjoyed some homemade jell-o cake all together.

See…

OH, Ruby…. I swear she had fun.

Anyway…. we all got hit with the stomach bug — thanksssss, daycare — and our families were not feeling well for a couple weeks, so Ruby’s original birthday plans shifted a week.

Once we finally all got together, though, it was awesome. We enjoyed a delicious meal, thanks to Sam — of homemade meat sauce and garlic bread, pasta, caesar salad and, of course, cake and ice cream (we got a really interesting one… malted vanilla).

For decorations, we had some strawberry themed things like a banner, cake topper, and hat — and I made a photo banner on Shutterfly using pics of her in chronological order from birth to now.

Here are some snapshots from the day. ☺️

What I want to remember about Ruby at this age:

  • The way she scoots around in a cute silly way on her butt.

  • The way she says “Uh oh”.

  • How much she loves to eat. Her faves right now are clementines, strawberries, toast, chicken and pasta.

  • How much she loves her brother. She lights UP when he’s around and their snuggles on the ground melt me.

  • When I say “cuddles!” and she lays on me in a really sweet way. 🥰

  • How she aggressively flips book pages and I don’t have time to read. 😅

  • How much she loves our stairs. 🙃

  • Her little dance moves when we play any music.

  • How quickly she calms down when we sing “Oma Rapeti”, which was a song we sang to Henry as a baby too. (I highly recommend this whole kids album. It’s so calming.)

  • Her little hair that grows over the tops of her ears.

  • The cute thing she does with her nose and huffing sound. 😅

  • How content she is outside/on walks, and barely makes a peep while taking in her surroundings.

  • How great she sleeps! Took 10 months to really get there, but we are now sleeping through the night — and oh, how nice it is!

Happy Birthday, little Ruby Fields! You make us so very happy. ❤️🍓
